What we staff around Spartanburg

The supplier belt, the tire and packaging plants, and the freight on I 85.

Spartanburg County has more than 30,000 manufacturing workers, the most of any county in South Carolina. Three situations our South Carolina team sees every week.

01 / Automotive

BMW and the Tier 1 plants in Greer and Duncan

BMW Group Plant Spartanburg builds about 1,500 vehicles a day with more than 11,000 employees, and its seating, mirror, interior and exterior systems suppliers sit within a few miles in Duncan and Greer along Highway 290 and the Tyger River parks. Plant Woodruff begins series production of high voltage batteries in December 2026 with more than 300 employees. Launches, pull ahead orders and quality holds at suppliers like these need assemblers, injection molding and press operators, sort and containment crews and inspectors who understand IATF quality systems. Our recruiters filled the same roles for Tier 1 suppliers in Metro Detroit for years.

02 / Plants

Tire, packaging and materials

Michelin runs tire plants across the Upstate and is opening a new regional distribution center in Spartanburg County. Packaging and materials plants keep arriving: Detpak USA chose the county for its first U.S. manufacturing operation in July 2026. These plants run rotating shifts and want machine operators, material handlers, quality technicians and maintenance mechanics who stay past the first paycheck. That is what our screening is built to find.

03 / Distribution

Distribution centers along I 85 and I 26

Spartanburg's apparel, retail and grocery distribution centers, the Walmart distribution center under construction in Lyman ($450 million, 400 jobs), and the 3PL buildings around Inland Port Greer hire forklift and reach truck operators, pickers and shipping clerks on night shifts and peak calendars. One caution from the data: statewide transportation, warehousing and utilities employment was down 3.4 percent over the year in July 2026 and this year's WARN list includes Saddle Creek Logistics in Duncan (130) and thyssenkrupp Supply Chain Services in Greer (110). Distribution is consolidating while throughput grows, so experienced warehouse people are available between contracts.

One bill rate. Everything an employer owes is inside it.

C3 Workforce is the employer of record

For every temporary employee on assignment, we hire, pay, insure and, when necessary, dismiss. The wage is what the worker earns. Everything else, including South Carolina's E Verify mandate and unemployment tax class system, moves to our desk.

  • Recruiting, interviews and skill evaluation
  • Background and drug screening to your requirements
  • E Verify on every C3 hire within three business days, as South Carolina law requires
  • I 9 employment eligibility verification
  • Payroll processing and W 2s
  • Payroll taxes: FICA, FUTA and South Carolina SUTA
  • Workers compensation coverage
  • South Carolina unemployment claims posted to C3's account and tax class, not yours
  • ACA tracking and 1095 C reporting
  • A recruiter who checks in with you and the associate
How it works

Four steps from first call to a crew that stays.

No portal, no sales sequence. The person who takes your call on the South Carolina line is the person who works your order.

01

Consult

You talk to a salesperson, not an intake form. Role, shift, pay rate, environment, and what has gone wrong with past hires. Written quote within 24 hours.

02

Source and screen

Relationships, not resumes. A recruiter who knows Spartanburg County knows who will drive from Boiling Springs to Duncan for third shift. One standard: anyone we send should be qualified enough to work in our own office.

03

Start

Onboarding, E Verify, payroll setup, safety orientation and required South Carolina notices are handled before day one. Your supervisor meets someone who already understands the job and the site rules.

04

Support

A recruiter checks in with you and the associate and visits your plant or distribution center. If something is not working, call us. We respond within one business day.

Questions Spartanburg employers ask

Straight answers.

Do you have an office in Spartanburg?

We do not publish a South Carolina street address. The C3 Workforce South Carolina team works the Upstate market from Greenville to Spartanburg with on site visits to plants and distribution centers, and takes orders on the South Carolina line, (864) 875-2009. The company is headquartered at 32233 Schoolcraft Rd, Suite 100, Livonia, MI 48150, and the Livonia sales team can also be reached at (734) 552-5731. Candidates apply online and interview by phone.

Which Spartanburg County cities do you cover?

Spartanburg, Greer, Duncan, Lyman, Wellford, Boiling Springs, Woodruff, Inman, Landrum, Cowpens and Chesnee, plus Gaffney in Cherokee County and Union and Jonesville in Union County, and we take orders anywhere in the state. C3 is a nationwide staffing and recruiting company, so direct placement and contract searches run anywhere in the country.

Do you staff automotive suppliers in the BMW corridor?

Yes. Production, quality, material handling and skilled trades roles for Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers are the core of what we do, in the Upstate and in Metro Detroit, where C3 is headquartered. We do not name clients on this site. Ask on the South Carolina line and we will talk through the plants we have worked, the roles we filled and what the launch or containment looked like. See automotive staffing for the roles and how we screen for them.

How does South Carolina's E Verify law work in a staffing arrangement?

Every private employer in South Carolina must verify each new hire through E Verify within three business days. C3 verifies the people it hires and places with you; you verify the people you hire directly. In a temp to hire conversion the person becomes your new hire on the day they move to your payroll, and you run E Verify then. Sources: SC Code 41 8 20; SC Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation.

Can we hire a temporary worker permanently?

Yes. Many Spartanburg County clients use a temporary assignment as a working interview. Ask about temp to hire and we will lay out the transition to your payroll before you place the order.
